Farrans Construction in partnership with Monaghan County Council are continuing to improve Farney County's water supply.

The works are part of Uisce Éireann's campaign to improve the water supply to homes and businesses whilst reducing leakages.

Construction work is set to begin in Monaghan town to replace backyard service connections and one kilometre of ageing water mains.

Backyard service connections will be replaced along Devin Reilly Terrace, St. Macartan's Terrace, Dr. McKenna Terrace, and Cathedral View.

Works are also well underway in Kingscourt Road, Mullanary and Carrickmacross, to replace backyard services and install 200 metres of new water mains.

These projects are part of Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme.

Uisce Éireann’s Networks Regional Lead, Declan Cawley, said: "Old backyard service connections are a huge source of leakage and water quality and continue to impact communities right across Ireland, causing low pressure and supply disruption. Replacing these old water mains and service connections in poor condition will eliminate existing leaks and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground. We would like to thank the residents in in these two locations in Monaghan for facilitating these works and working with us to provide a more secure and reliable water supply for generations to come."

Traffic management systems will be in place where water mains are being constructed. However, local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

There may be some short-term water interruptions but the project team will inform customers 48 hours prior to any planned water interruptions.
