Ward and Burke Construction has been appointed to replace over one kilometre of old water mains in Cork City.
The essential works are due to commence this week (30 October - 5 November) on Edward Walsh Road, Michael Fitzgerald Road and part of Charles Daly Road. The works will be completed by the end of February 2024.
Uisce Éireann has teamed up with Cork City Council to replace the water mains which will improve the water supply in the area.
Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Jack Cronin said: "The section of watermain that we are replacing has burst several times recently, so we are delighted to progress these upgrades for the local community, providing them with a more reliable water supply. To deliver the works safely and efficiently, traffic management in the form of a stop-go system will be in place during this time and a diversion will be sign-posted. Local and emergency access will always be maintained. We would like to thank customers in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these essential works."
Uisce Éireann has said that the works may involve some short-term water interruptions and the project team will give customers 48 hours notice prior to any planned disruption.
