Contractors have been appointed to resurface the A28 Carnbane Way, Belfast Road and Damolly Roundabout.
Resurfacing work will begin today, 6 November, and is expected to be complete by 27 November 2023.
The improvement works will extend from the junction of A28 Carnbane Way with Cloghanramer Road East towards Damolly Roundabout and 750 metres North towards the A1, finishing at H&P Business Park.
In order to facilitate the works, a series of road closures will be in place. Carnbane Way and Damolly Roundabout will be closed from 6 November from 7.00 pm to 6.00 am for five consecutive nights. The route will also be closed on 12 and 19 November between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm.
During this period two signed diversion routes will be in place:
• Light vehicles: A1 Newry Bypass - A27 Shepherds Way – A27 Tandragee Road – A27 Armagh Road – A28 Downshire Road and vice versa.
• Heavy goods vehicles travelling from the A1 Newry Bypass towards Warrenpoint will be signposted via A1 Newry Bypass - A2 Dublin Road and vice versa.
The A28 Belfast Road will be closed from 13 November from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm on weekdays for two weeks. An alternative signed route will be in place as follows: A1 Newry Bypass - A27 Shepherds Way – A27 Tandragee Road – A28 Carnbane Way and vice versa.
