Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, has hosted the fourth National Climate Stakeholder Forum (NCSF).

The event was held in the Convention Centre Dublin and was chaired by Professor Alan Barrett, Director of the ESRI. It brought together nearly 200 stakeholders and policy makers to focus on engagement on climate action throughout the country.

Participants at the event had the opportunity to discuss climate engagement within their sector and examine the gaps that exist.

The NCSF is a part of The National Dialogue on Climate Action (NDCA) which takes the form of a one-day workshop. THE NDCA is Ireland's national programme that empowers stakeholders and citizens to take climate action.

Minister Ryan said:

"Outputs from the National Dialogue on Climate have shown that there is a lot of work being done to engage with citizens on climate action. We know there are many great examples of communities taking on climate action across Ireland right now and I want to expand on this.

"By enhancing our engagement, we hope to reach all communities across Ireland and make sure that everyone can be involved in taking climate action in an equitable manner."

Professor Alan Barrett of the ESRI said:

"This is my third time chairing this forum and I am happy to see how it has developed over the past eighteen months.

"We know from research that stakeholders and the public are aware of climate change, but often struggle to take decisive action. By focusing on engagement today’s forum will facilitate discussions on how policy makers and agencies can engage with and support communities to take climate action."
