NI Water is continuing to repair a sewer on Tates Avenue in Belfast.
In order to facilitate the emergency repair work, Tates Avenue is expected to be continuously closed from Ebor Street to Lisburn Road until 17 November.
Two diversions are in place:
• Diversion 1 is at Boucher Road, Stockman’s Lane and Lisburn Road.
• Diversion 2 is at Glenmachan Street, Donegall Road, Shaftesbury Square, Great Victoria Street, Bruce Street, Dublin Road, Shaftesbury Square, Bradbury Place, Lisburn Road.
Nigel McDowell, Developer Services, explained: "NI Water has been working on Tates Avenue for the last ten days completing a sewer extension for a new development. Unfortunately, ground conditions are causing damage to the existing public sewer and to the road, meaning it is too dangerous for traffic to pass the works. Emergency repair works need to be carried out immediately and a full road closure is required to allow that work to start straight away.
"We fully appreciate the frustration and inconvenience this road closure will cause. Please be assured our team is working as fast as possible to complete this emergency repair work. However, it is a difficult project, with an expected completion date of Friday 17th November 2023."
