Uisce Éireann has announced that it has repaired two large bursts on Achill Island and the reservoirs are now refilling.
Customers in Tonragee, Polranny and Dooega and surrounding areas who were impacted by the burst are expected to have a normal water supply restored by tomorrow morning, 7 December.
Uisce Éireann's Colette Scahill said: "Supply in Achill is currently being restored to all customer in the community but in the meantime alternative supply will be available in Dooega."
"We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience as we work to repair the burst and return normal water supply."
"Customers availing of the alternative supply are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per Health Service Executive (HSE) advice."
