Sinn Fein is urging the Chancellor to release the second round of funding for businesses affected by recent flooding.
Chris Hazzard MP has written to the Chancellor calling on him to release this next phase of the flood relief scheme, which will provide significant funding for qualifying businesses.
Mr Hazzard said: "For over a month now, local businesses in Downpatrick and Newry have been left waiting for the significant funds they require to recover from the recent devastating floods.
"While the initial £7,500 payment helped some businesses deal with the cost of the immediate clean-up operation, it was obvious that a much more significant funding package would be required to help repair and rebuild those premises that had been destroyed.
"Following discussions with officials from the Civil Service; Department for the Economy; and Newry, Mourne & Down Council plans are finally in place to provide significant funding ranging from £75,000 up to £100,000 per business.
"I have made it clear to the British Chancellor that businesses need this money urgently and the Treasury must work with the economy department and local Council to expedite the sign-off process and ensure that applications and assessments are accessible."
