RSUA Opens Rathlin Island Design Competition

The Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) has announced that an open design competition to propose a regenerative solution for Rathlin Island is now open for applications.

The competition is open to all emerging creatives interested in spatial and lifestyle transformation. 'Emerging creatives' are those who would not be considered established or with an extensive portfolio of their own.

The purpose of this competition is to find out how regenerative solutions can enable climate adaptation and resilience in coastal contexts and is based on six main themes. Proposals should respond to one of those themes.

One winner will be announced for each theme. All six winners and 18 finalists will be invited to spend a one-week residential on Rathlin Island in September 2024. The winners will receive £1000 to take part in the residential and all travel and accommodation costs will be covered.

The deadline for applicants to register their interest is 1.00 pm on 8 January and the deadline for submissions is 1.00 pm on 15 January 2024.
