€6.2m Funding Allocated To Projects Under CLÁR Programme

The Government has been allocated €6.2 million of funding to support more than 150 projects nationwide under the 2023 CLÁR (Ceantair Laga Árd-Riachtanais) programme.

The funding will facilitate the delivery of a wide range of projects including astroturf pitches, playgrounds, sensory gardens, walking tracks, nature trails, outdoor performance spaces and community cafés.

For projects on offshore islands a specific tranche of funding has also been provided.

The projects were approved under Measure 1 and Measure 3 of the 2023 CLÁR programme.

Under the 2023 programme, €13 million has been invested in support of 302 projects in CLÁR areas nationwide. Successful projects under Measure 1 and Measure 2 of the programme were announced in 2023.

CLÁR funds small scale projects in rural areas that have experienced significant levels of population decline. It is part of Our Rural Future, the government’s strategic five-year rural development plan.

Areas targeted under the CLÁR Programme are parts of counties: Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, and Waterford, Westmeath, Wicklow and all of County Leitrim.
