CEF'S #SafetyReboot2024 To Focus On Workplace Transport

CEF has announced that this week the #SafetyReboot2024 initiative is focusing on workplace transport safety.

The resources for the #SafetyReboot2024 include a section on Mobile Plant & Equipment which workplaces are encouraged to discuss this week. When operators are using mobile plant there is the need to:

• segregate vehicles from pedestrians,

• train staff to use machines competently,

• make sure the machines are regularly inspected, serviced and maintained; and

• ensure only trained and authorised personnel are permitted to operate plant on site.

According to the HSENI, in the ten years to 2022 incidents involving workplace vehicles across all work settings claimed the lives of 34 workers and left 162 others with serious injuries.

The #SafetyReboot2024 has partnered with HSENI's #DriveDangerOut campaign to deliver the workplace transport safety initiative. The #DriveDangerOut campaign is promoting the HSENI’s ongoing inspection programme aimed at reducing the number of people killed or injured as a result of incidents involving workplace transport.
