Shareridge Civil Engineering To Replace Water Mains In Portlaw

Shareridge Civil Engineering has been appointed to replace 1.4 kilometres of old water mains in Portlaw.

Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Waterford City and County Council to replace the mains with new modern pipes.

The new water mains will provide a more reliable water supply for the community and reduce high levels of leakage.

Works are set to begin on the week starting 5 February and are expected to be completed by mid-April 2024.

The section of works will take place on the R680 from the junction with Coolfin Meadows heading west.

David Murphy, Uisce Éireann said: "To facilitate the safe delivery of the project and to minimise impact on the community, areas of work will be limited to short sections. Traffic management will be in place at this time, in the form of a stop/go, one-lane system. Hours of work will be 7am - 7pm Monday – Friday. Local and emergency traffic will always be maintained.

"This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most enabling these communities to thrive."
