Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has announced that the development of Marine Gardens play park in Carrickfergus will begin in February 2024.

The works will create an accessible and inclusive play space which will cater to the diverse needs of residents in the area. The Council has collaborated with industry-leading experts to design a space that will inspire imagination, encourage physical activity and foster social connections. New play equipment has been selected to promote physical development, cognitive skills and sensory exploration.

Furthermore, the design will incorporate accessible pathways, ensuring that children, parents and carers with mobility challenges can navigate the space independently. Seating areas will also be available, allowing parents and caregivers to relax and supervise their children comfortably.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Gerardine Mulvenna, said: "The Marine Gardens play park is a testament to Council’s commitment to create a vibrant and inclusive community.
