Dublin City Council has sought the public's views on the plans for the Milltown Road-Dodder Walk to Dundrum Road Active Travel Route.
The route is viewed as an ideal location for rapid build walking and cycling facilities and will facilitate a continuous route along the Dodder corridor in advance of the Dodder Greenway project.
In the next few years, the Active Travel Network will grow from 10 kilometres to 310 kilometres citywide. This will enhance quality of life by improving access, connectivity and sustainable mobility for all, whilst reducing transport-related carbon emissions.
The Milltown Road-Dodder Walk to Dundrum Road scheme will contribute to an increase in walking, wheeling and cycling along 1 kilometre of the Dodder Greenway corridor.
The Dodder Greenway scheme will:
• Provide active travel facilities to cater for all ages and abilities along the Dodder Corridor.
• Facilitate a more active lifestyle for all ages bringing multiple benefits for physical and mental wellbeing
• Contribute to a reduction in transport emissions in line with the objectives of the Climate Action Plan by encouraging a modal shift to active travel use
The non-statutory public consultation is open until 15 March 2023.
