Construction News Image
Shareridge Civil Engineering has been appointed by Uisce Éireann to replace 2.7 kilometres of old water mains with new modern pipes in Walsh Island

Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Offaly County Council which will provide a more reliable water supply for the community and reduce high levels of leakage.

The works will begin in late February at the Junction of the R400 in Enaghan & progress North-West towards Walsh Island. New water service connections will be laid from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers' water supply.

David Murphy, Uisce Éireann said: "To facilitate the safe delivery of the project and to minimise impact on the community, areas of work will be limited to short sections. Traffic management in the form of a stop/go one-lane system will be in place at this time. Local and emergency traffic will always be maintained.

"This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most enabling these communities to thrive."

The works are expected to be completed by the end of May 2024.
