NI Water is set to install monitoring equipment in the storm overflow manhole on the North Down Coastal Path at Brompton Bay in Bangor.
In order to facilitate the works the coastal path in Bangor will be temporarily closed between Brompton Bay and the Pickie Fun Park for up to three days in March to facilitate essential work by NI Water. The works will take place on 11, 12 and potentially 13 March depending on ground conditions.
NI Water Senior Project Manager, Matthew Lundy said: "NI Water is currently engaged in a programme of work to monitor the performance of storm overflows across Northern Ireland.
"At Seacourt, this will involve the placement of monitoring equipment in the storm overflow manhole on the coastal path and the laying of a cable across the path to connect to the pumping station.
"To carry out the short excavation and subsequent reinstatement safely, NI Water’s contractor, BSG will need to close the path between Brompton Bay and Pickie Fun Park for a period of 2-3 days. Signage will be erected in advance to inform the public of these works and a diversion route will be clearly signposted.
"NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation as we carry out this essential work. BSG will strive to complete the work as quickly as possible and keep any disruption to a minimum."
