Programme Of Works To Commence At Newry Leisure Centre

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has announced that a major programme of works is set to get underway at the Swimming Pool at Newry Leisure Centre.

Work on resolving issues with the hydraulic system of the pool's movable floor and replacing pool tiles will now begin. During this time, the pool will be closed to accommodate the work program, expected to conclude in about six months.

At the centre all council swimming lessons, school swimming lessons and autism swim sessions have been cancelled and the centre management will contact all bookings. A credit will be issued for any Council led lessons which can be redeemed against future swimming lessons. For children at the highest lesson level and do not need to re-enrol or choose to not return to lessons, a refund will be issued. Alternative Autism swimming sessions are available in Down Leisure Centre and Kilkeel Leisure Centre and can be booked via the NMD Be Active App.

All pool bookings have been cancelled and management will be in contact for club and commercial bookings to provide updates and discuss alternative arrangements. At present the Health Suite remains open, however it will close once contractors commence repair works onsite impacting on the Health Suite facilities.

For members of Newry Leisure Centre who have pool and health suite usage included in their membership and who pay monthly by Direct Debit, financial adjustments will be made to their direct debit to reflect closures.
