Ward & Burke Construction Ltd has been appointed to replace almost 700 metres of water mains in Ballinoosky with work beginning this week.
The works which are part of Uisce Éireann's investment in County Clare will provide a more reliable water supply to the community and reduce high levels of leakage.
The section of works will take place along a section of the L-3164 Lemenaghmore. This significant project for the people of Ballinoosky will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply.
In order to facilitate the works a road closure will be in place along the L-3164 Lemenaghmore from 15 April until 3 May. Diversion routes will be in place along the R458 and R472.
As these works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme,
Programme Manager Jack Cronin, said: "This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most enabling these communities to thrive."
Works are expected to be completed by summer.
