Resurfacing Scheme To Begin In Downpatrick

Infrastructure Minister, John O'Dowd, has announced that a £350,000 carriageway and footway resurfacing scheme is set to commence on A25 Church Steet, Downpatrick.

The scheme which begins on Monday 3 June 2024 will involve asphalt resurfacing and footway refurbishment of a 250 metre stretch of Church Street from the Strangford Road roundabout to Pillar Lane junction which will contribute significantly to improving and modernising the quality of the public realm at a key gateway into Downpatrick town centre.

This scheme has been jointly funded by the Department for Communities (DfC), which has contributed a substantial £275,000 to the project as part of its regeneration plans for Downpatrick town centre.

In order to deliver the scheme a daytime narrow lane restriction will be in place from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday, from Monday 3 June to Friday 5 July 2024. The resurfacing works will also require night time road closures between 19:00 and 06:00 Monday to Friday.

The works are expected to be substantially completed by Friday 5 July 2024.
