Uisce Éireann is working to restore the water supply for customers in the Cooley Peninsula.
A team are working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses to areas in the Ballymascanlan, Rath, Jenkinstown, Greenore, Omeath and Carlingford areas.
The disruption to supply is down to a combination of unusually high customer demand and leakage. Periodic outages and a drop in pressure are expected to continue over the weekend.
Crews are on the ground and have isolated a significant leak, the treatment plant is running at maximum production to replenish the reservoirs, and the operations team have diverted water from the adjacent Cavanhill scheme to help minimise disruption and return supplies as quickly as normal.
Uisce Éireann’s Operations Lead, James O Hagan said: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible."
