Over 70 new homes have officially opened in Dominick Hall and Dominick Place in Dublin.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste officially launched Dominick Hall and Dominick Place, alongside the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O'Brien TD, a new mixed-use housing development on Dominick Street Lower, Dublin 1. The award winning development includes 72 new homes, a community centre and ground floor commercial units. The design of the building aims to separate the private space of the residents from the public nature of the city centre and a private courtyard at podium level gives the residents their own private amenity space. The new urban block re-establishes the building line of the former historic residential street and represents the regeneration of the inner city housing flat complex.

The development was jointly awarded winner of the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2023 in the Living Category- Housing Schemes and was commended in the Building for All, Universal Design Category.

The mixed-use development delivers high quality, energy efficient and accessible homes as well as commercial and community spaces to promote an inclusive inner city community and sustainable neighbourhood. The 67 apartments and 5 townhouses are a varied mix of home types consisting of one, two and three bedrooms that cater to differing living requirements which supports a rich and sustainable community. Included within the home types are 6 UD+ homes. These modern A2 BER rated homes are designed to achieve Near Zero Energy Building performance, are fossil fuel free and the apartments have rain water harvesting systems.

The delivery of the 72 homes and the community centre has been funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Minister O'Brien said: "The delivery of this new award winning scheme shows how a former brown field site in Dublin 1 can be reimagined and transformed to deliver state of the art homes that will be life-changing for up to 120 new residents. A mix of older residents and young families now have a place to call home and will benefit from both the best of local community amenities and city living. Strategic partnerships and Government funding to deliver projects like Dominick Hall with Dublin City Council are now coming to fruition right across the country. This is Housing for All in action - we are using every tool available to us to keep up the momentum."

Chair of Dublin City Council’s Housing SPC, Cllr. Alison Gilliland added: "I commend how the design of Dominic Hall has skilfully incorporated its previous historic red brick style with modern day sustainable architecture and living. The development positively contributes to the regeneration of this city centre community. I have no doubt that those living here will enjoy having a beautiful quiet inner courtyard for private use on the one hand and also benefitting from having every possible city centre amenity on their doorstep!"
