EPS Group is set to begin construction works on a brand new wastewater treatment plant in Ballyvaughan.
Acting on behalf of Uisce Éireann, EPS Group is set to begin this multi-million-euro investment which will cater to a population equivalent to nearly 1,050 residents in the charming coastal village. Working in partnership with Clare County Council, Uisce Éireann is committed to ending the unacceptable practice of untreated wastewater being discharged into Ballyvaughan Bay.
The upcoming wastewater treatment plant in Ballyvaughan promises a multitude of advantages, foremost among them being a substantial improvement in the water quality of Ballyvaughan Bay. This improvement will contribute to the overall health and preservation of the local environment, while also paving the way for future social and economic expansion in the region by ensuring ample capacity.
Given Ballyvaughan's significance as a tourist hotspot, the project holds additional significance, as it will elevate water quality for various recreational activities such as swimming, surfing, fishing, boating, and sightseeing. Importantly, this initiative will guarantee adherence to both national and EU regulations governing wastewater treatment, underscoring its critical role in environmental sustainability.
Esther White, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, said: "We are delighted to be commencing construction of this significant project for the local community in Ballyvaughan. This project will end the current practice of discharging untreated wastewater into the Ballyvaughan Bay, thereby, improving water quality and protecting marine life. The project reflects Uisce Éireann’s ongoing commitment to the efficient delivery of critical infrastructure to support growth in local communities across County Clare as the new plant has been sized to accommodate an increase in the local population."
