Farrans has announced that Project Pipeline has won the Pipeline Industries Guild Technology and Projects Award.
The team behind Northumbrian Water's £155m Project Pipeline: County Durham and Tees Valley, including Farrans and various technical partners, has won the Large Diameter Pipeline Project Award at the annual Pipeline Industries Guild Technology and Projects Award.
Along with Farrans and Northumbrian Water, the award recognises the work of our design and delivery partners, Stantec, Mott MacDonaldand FT Pipeline Systems Ltd.
In County Durham and Tees Valley, Farrans is improving the underground water pipe network by installing 34 km of new pipes, each 800 mm in diameter, from Lartington Water Treatment Works to Shildon via Whorley Hill. The pipeline will cross the River Tees at two locations. At Cotherstone, a tunnel has been constructed to run 20 meters under the riverbed, while at Alwent Beck, a pipe bridge is being built.
Pipelaying advances on Phase 1 of this project as Northumbrian Water prepares for Phase 2. The goal is to protect and improve water supplies for approximately 200,000 customers across the south of County Durham and into the Tees Valley.
