Donegal County Council has appointed Dorrian Construction Ltd for the Ailt an Chorrain (Burtonport) Harbour Redevelopment Phase 2 Regeneration Project, with design services provided by MH Associates.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue and the Glenties Municipal District members came together to mark the start of Phase 2 of the Ailt an Chorráin (Burtonport) Harbour Redevelopment Project.
This major regeneration project is co-funded by Donegal County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development through the Rural Regeneration & Development Fund, a key component of Project Ireland 2040. It is the outcome of collaboration between the local community, Donegal County Council and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The Ailt an Chorráin (Burtonport) Harbour Redevelopment - Phase 2 is part of the larger Ailt an Chorráin (Burtonport)/Árainn Mhór (Arranmore) 'Harbour to Island' Regeneration Project, aimed at transforming both Burtonport and Arranmore Island.
Phase 1 upgraded the harbour infrastructure and environment by removing outdated buildings and creating a modern public space with improved transport, amenities and parking. Phase 2 will introduce a new Ferry Terminal Building and Enterprise Building, improving the project with significant physical developments, diverse uses and quality architecture in the marine and harbour area.
The project is scheduled for completion by Q4 2025.
