Cork County Council has extended the deadline for the Midleton and East Cork Individual Property Protection Scheme by one week, moving the closing date to 12pm on Monday, November 18, 2024.
The extension allows additional time for property owners affected by flooding during Storm Babet to apply for flood protection measures.
The scheme, funded by the Office of Public Works (OPW) and managed by Cork County Council, provides protective solutions, such as flood gates, to help reduce water entry through doors and other openings. So far, over 800 applications have been received, with most approved to advance to the next stage. Initial property surveys, conducted by independent consulting engineers, are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
