Energy provider ESB Networks has been working over the weekend to restore power to 60,000 homes predominantly in counties Donegal, Sligo, Mayo and Galway following the impact of Storm Bert.
As of 5.10pm, 11,000 of ESB Network's customers remained without power, meaning 49,000 homes had saw their supply returned.
Crews continued to work late into Saturday evening to restore power to all who were impacted by the adverse weather, however, some had to go overnight without supply.
A concerted effort was made in areas of Connemara and West Mayo, where some customers were without supply due to extensive damage from the heavy snow and ice in the early hours of Thursday morning.
ESB Networks stated they appreciate the adverse impact that prolonged lengthy outages have had on family and commercial life.
ESB Networks teams are closely monitoring the storm impact on power supplies and all available resources remain available to respond when and where it’s safe to do so.
The supplier also issued an important public safety message, which said: "If you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they are LIVE and extremely dangerous. Please report any damage to electricity infrastructure by calling 1800 372 999."
