Construction works have commenced at the Common Lifford site in Donegal which will allow for the development of a new social housing scheme.
ACS Civils Ltd have been appointed as the contractors for these works while McAdams Design are also involved in the project.
Once completed, the social housing scheme will include 60 units, new playing fields that will enhance local recreational facilities, sites for economic development creating new job opportunities and new Community Health facilities.
Meanwhile, the enabling infrastructure that will allow for the future development of this site includes the construction of roads, footpaths with cycling provision and infrastructure for water, wastewater, electricity and telecommunications. Works are expected to be complete by end of Q2 2024.
On Monday morning (November, 25) the Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council turned the sod on a new development at the Common Lifford marking the beginning of the construction of enabling infrastructure.
Cathaoirleach Kennedy said: "This development is a milestone for Lifford and by investing in housing, economic opportunities, and community and health facilities, we are shaping a future that is brighter and more prosperous for all.
"I commend everyone involved in bringing us to this point and look forward to seeing this project thrive."
John McLaughlin, Chief Executive of Donegal County Council, added: "This is only possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of our teams and partners, and I look forward to seeing the progress ahead."
