Production Recommences At Dunmanway Water Treatment Plant

Production at the Dunmanway Water Treatment Plant in Co. Cork has recommenced, Uisce Éireann has announced.

Following the flooding impacts of Storm Bert, which caused high turbidity in the raw water supply, Uisce Éireann was forced to temporarily shut down production at the plant over last weekend.

However, while the water treatment plant is now back in operation, the reservoirs levels are very low.

Uisce Éireann's Niall O'Riordan said: "We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by interruptions to the water supply and very much appreciate the community's co-operation while our crews worked to carry out the repairs and restore supply, which proved challenging and complex following Storm Bert.

"We are appealing to customers to check for leaks in the home and carry out necessary leak repairs to prevent avoidable loss of water.

"We are also asking farmers to check their service pipes, drinking troughs and outbuildings asking the public for their support to help reduce overall demand by conserving water."
