The second phase of construction works at Kiltipper Park in South Dublin were officially marked recently by a sod-turning event.
The works about to commence will include the construction of an extended car park; footpath and northern pedestrian entrance improvements; sports pitch construction and associated drainage; construction of a new viewpoint area; hedgerow rejuvenation works; and all associated ancillary site drainage and landscaping works.
Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates and Tim Austin Associates have carried out the planning and design work on this project to date. Construction work on site will be carried out by ACS Civils Ltd.
Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Baby Pereppadan, turned the sod surrounded by local Councillors, Ms Teresa Walsh, Director of Services, and staff of South Dublin County Council.
Representatives from the contractor's and designer's teams were also present to celebrate the event.
This phase of the project is funded by South Dublin County Council's three-year capital budget and supported by The Department of Rural and Community Development through the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) and the Department of Sport via Sports Capital Grants.
