A railway order for the Dart+ South West scheme between Heuston and Hazelhatch Stations in Dublin has been approved by Ireland's national independent planning body, An Bord Pleanála.
This green light means plans can now progress to upgrade to higher frequency services and Dart-style trains with the potential for additional stations in the future.
A statement from South Dublin County Council welcomed the decision, which said: "This will benefit residents, workers and visitors to South Dublin County, particularly servicing Adamstown, Clonburris, Clondalkin and City Edge by significantly improving public transport, providing an alternative to car use and helping achieve our climate change targets."
