New policy and legislation which will improve the safety of high-rise residential buildings (HRRBs) is currently being developed by Northern Ireland's Department for Communities.
As part of the process, the Department's Residential Building Safety Team is seeking input from those involved in the commissioning, design, construction, maintenance and management of HRRBs.
Two upcoming sessions at the Voco Hotel, Cromac Place in Belfast will take place this month, on Tuesday, January 21 at 10am for public sector representatives and the other on Thursday, January 23 at 12pm for industry representatives, to help shape the team's new policy.
The team's work follows the findings of the Hackitt reports and inquiry into the Grenfell tragedy and the recommendations made by an Expert Panel on the HRRB safety system in Northern Ireland.
Derek Kennedy, Director of Residential Building Safety, said: "The building safety system in Northern Ireland is highly complex and involves a great number of stakeholders across the private and public sectors.
"It is essential that we work closely with all those in the industry to co-design optimal solutions for the region."
