Works to replace more than 500 metres of old concrete water mains in Drumsna, County Leitrim, are set to commence next week.
Crews from Uisce Éireann will be carrying out the works located in the village's Main Street and at the R299 (Main Street junction to Oak Meadows junction) as part of the company's National Leakage Reduction Programme.
Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact and Uisce Éireann's project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to any planned interruptions.
These important works will not only give local homes and businesses more confidence in their water supply, but the new pipework will put an end to leakage of treated water into the ground.
Uisce Éireann's Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, said: "This work will bring a range of benefits for our customers in the area including reliability of supply and improved water quality.
"It will also help us achieve our 2030 goal of a national leakage rate of 25%. The National Leakage Reduction team has made great strides since 2018, when the leakage rate stood at 46%."
