Farrans Construction has successfully completed significant water leakage reduction works on behalf of Uisce Éireann in County Donegal.
As a result, customers in the Manorcunningham, Pluck and Errity areas are now benefitting from a more secure and reliable water supply.
The works, which were carried out under Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme, involved the replacement of more than 3km of ageing water mains with new, modern pipes.
The project included works from Pluck up through Manorcunningham and into Errity, along the L1154 and L1294 local roads.
These leakage reduction works began in late January last year and were completed in November.
The works also involved laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries, and connecting it to the customers' water supply.
Discussing the works, Patricia Lowry, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "Not only will these upgrades result in fewer leaks and a reduced risk of contamination, but the new pipes will also significantly lower the instances of bursts and outages on the network, leading to a more secure supply for local community.
"Finding and fixing leaks in the network is an ongoing challenge for us at Uisce Éireann but it is one we are firmly committed to meeting."
