Disruption to the water supply in the Moneymore area of Drogheda, County Louth, has been planned to occur tomorrow night to facilitate ongoing essential watermains replacement works.
The works, which are being carried out by crews from Uisce Éireann, involve the decommissioning of ageing back yard water mains and the delivery of 1,633 meters of new water mains constructed along the public road, to improve water quality and provide a more reliable water supply for customers, and to reduce high levels of leakage.
Customers within Hardman Gardens, Sunday’s Gate, Church Street, Bóthar Bruga, Pearse Park, Sandyford Terrace, Magdalene Street, Rope Walk and surrounding areas will be impacted by the outage which is set to take place from 9pm on Thursday, January 23, until 4am on Friday, January 24.
It is estimated that up to 3,000 customers may be impacted by water interruptions and low pressure.
Uisce Éireann's Declan Healy said: "We understand the inconvenience caused by water outages. Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation.
"Following the completion of the works, it can take 2-3 hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network, particularly for those properties on high ground or at the end of the network."
