Crews from Farrans Construction are set to carry out significant improvement works to the water supply network in Raphoe, County Donegal.
The works, which will be completed on behalf of Uisce Éireann, are expected to be finished by late Spring 2025 and include the replacement of more than 1km of damaged water mains at Beltony Road.
Once completed, these works will ensure a reduction in disruption from bursts and supply interruptions for Uisce Éireann customers.
The new pipework will put an end to leakage of treated water into the ground and give local homes and businesses more confidence in their supply.
Crews will be carrying out this water main replacement project along the L2334 at Miltown/Figart.
Discussing the project, Uisce Éireann's Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, said: "This work will bring a range of benefits for our customers in the area including reliability of supply and improved water quality.
"We understand that this type of work is inconvenient, and our crews are making every effort to minimise disruption to the local community.
"These works are vital to ensure Raphoe's security of supply now and into the future, with the long-term benefits far outweighing any short-term inconvenience. We thank the community for their patience and cooperation as these essential works progress."
To deliver the works safely and efficiently, a road closure will be necessary. Diversion routes will be in place and the community can be assured that local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
