Northern Ireland construction firm GRAHAM will deliver the second stage of a major infrastructure scheme in South Oxfordshire, England.
Leading on the design of the Clifton Hampden Bypass and Didcot to Culham River Crossing, the Didcot and surrounding area major infrastructure (HIF1) scheme aims to address traffic congestion, improve journey times and enhance connectivity between Didcot and surrounding areas, whilst supporting the creation of new jobs and economic growth in the Science Vale region.
Detailed design is currently underway, with construction expected to start in early 2026.
Andrew Henry, GRAHAM Contracts Director, said: "GRAHAM has been working closely with Oxfordshire County Council and key stakeholders since April 2023 through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).
"This collaborative approach has enabled us to develop the detailed design for these significant infrastructure projects while actively engaging with third-party stakeholders such as Thames Water and Openreach to coordinate necessary utility diversions."
The procurement of GRAHAM for the Design and Construct projects has been facilitated through Crown Commercial Service's Construction Works and Associated Services framework.
Dawn Matthias, Deputy Director, Construction at Crown Commercial Service added: "The Crown Commercial Service Construction category team worked closely with Oxfordshire County Council to support a compliant route to market in line with the aims of the Construction Playbook; and we are delighted to see these projects progress to this stage.
"These initiatives not only promise to enhance local infrastructure but also deliver significant social value and tangible benefits to residents in the community."
