County Tipperary-based Glas Civil Engineering has commenced works on a major active travel project in County Kildare.
The project includes a comprehensive upgrade of Mill Street, Maynooth, spanning from the Leinster Street /Main Street junction to the Kilcock Road / Moyglare Road junction.
The enhancements will feature improved pedestrian and cycle facilities on both sides of the street, upgraded pedestrian crossings, enhanced bus stop facilities and a new pedestrian footbridge on the west side of the street adjacent to the existing bridge over the River Lyreen.
The project will be progressed in multiple phases, over a 12-month period. Initial works begun this week on the eastern side of Mill Street (between the Lyreen Bridge and Main Street junction).
While full traffic movements are maintained, temporary traffic and pedestrian management measures have been implemented to facilitate the works.
