Dublin-based Shanganagh Castle Estate has scooped a prestigious title at this year's Business Post Property Awards.
The housing development was honoured with the Placemaking Initiative of the Year Award, after its innovative design and forward-thinking approach was recognised.
The Shanganagh Castle Estate is a collaborative project between Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the Land Development Agency (LDA).
The development is the largest residential scheme certified to achieve the 'passive house' low energy use standard, and has significantly lower energy consumption and associated heating costs compared to other new builds.
Shanganagh Castle Estate has delivered high quality A rated and passive homes across a mix of tenures – affordable purchase, cost rental and social. The development provides a range of housing options to cater for young professionals, families, older people and social housing tenants.
The first phase of 51 affordable purchase houses, 195 cost rental apartments and 35 social apartments was delivered in 2024, with the remaining 316 homes available in 2025.
