Water Main Works Continue In Co Longford

Construction crews are working to urgently repair a burst water main that has disrupted the water supply to customers in Granard, Co Longford.

The burst has affected Granard Town, Moat, Bunlahy, Springtown, Aughnagarron, Tonywarden, Granardkille, and surrounding areas in County Longford.

Homes and businesses in these locations are currently experiencing low water pressure, temporary water discolouration, and intermittent disruptions to their water supply.

Uisce Éireann dispatched expert water service crews to the site immediately, and they are working to minimise disruption and complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible.

David Gibbons, Water Operations Lead for Longford, acknowledged the inconvenience caused to customers, stating: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are. We thank impacted customers in Granard and the surrounding area for their patience while we carry out repairs and restore the water supply as quickly as possible."

Following the completion of the construction work, Uisce Éireann anticipates that it will take approximately three to four hours for the normal water supply to be fully restored to all areas. However, customers living on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience a longer delay in the return of their water service as the system refills.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann are being directly contacted with updates regarding the outage, as per the company's protocol for disruptions lasting more than four hours.
