Cork County Council is inviting Expressions of Interest for projects aimed at enhancing the attractiveness and sustainability of the county's towns and villages under the 2025 Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS).
Funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, the TVRS supports the revitalisation of rural Ireland with a strong emphasis on addressing vacancy and dereliction, increasing footfall in town centres, and supporting vibrant Gaeltacht and island communities.
In recent years, the scheme has helped bring transformative projects to life across County Cork. Notable examples include the development of Cape Clear's first children's playground, the acquisition and planned refurbishment of a vacant property in Millstreet for community use, upgrades to the Rock public amenity in Skibbereen, and the installation of a viewing platform and interpretative signage at the historic 19th-century Youghal Lighthouse.
The scheme is primarily open to towns and villages with populations of up to 10,000, though applications from towns of up to 15,000 people may also be considered. Grant funding ranging from €50,000 to €500,000 is available for qualifying projects. Additionally, up to €50,000 per project is available for pre-development work to assist communities in preparing for future funding applications.
Expressions of Interest and full details of the 2025 scheme can be accessed through Cork County Council’s website. The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Wednesday, 14 May 2025.
