The completion of 12 new affordable homes in Ballymun, Dublin, has officially been announced.

Dublin City Council, in partnership with O'Cualann Cohousing Alliance CLG, declared the completion of the three-bedroom homes at Oileáin na Crannóige in Balbutcher Lane, which were delivered with the support of the Department of Housing Local Government & Heritage, through the Affordable Housing Fund.

Designed by Smith Kennedy Architects, all homes in Oileáin na Crannóige are spacious, bright and energy efficient with triple glazed windows, demand control mechanical ventilation systems and air to water heat pump systems. All properties have an A2 energy rating and feature a private rear garden with a mixture of on and off street parking spaces.

These are the first Affordable Homes, delivered by Dublin City Council and its partners, under the Government's Affordable Housing Scheme. 

Discussing the scheme, Mick Mulhern, Assistant Chief Executive, Housing, Dublin City Council, said: "I am delighted to see the completion of the final phase of this scheme, delivering a total of 49 affordable homes in Oileáin na Crannoige in Ballymun.

"Dublin City Council is committed to providing people with opportunities to purchase their own home at more affordable prices and our programme will deliver further opportunities for affordable purchase later this year in O’Devaney Gardens and Oscar Traynor Road."
