McKelvey Construction Commences Work On New Monaghan Hub

County Tyrone-based McKelvey Construction Ltd has commenced building works on the Blackwater Valley Rural Enterprise and Digital Hub project at Knockconan in County Monaghan.

The Board of Truagh Development Association CLG and Monaghan County Council partnered on the project to secure €3.3m in funding through the Department of Rural and Community Development's Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.

Construction of the new building, which is located between the Sacred Heart Church Ballyoisin and the Errigal Truagh Special Needs centre, just off the main N2 between Emyvale and Aughnacloy, is expected to be completed in Q3 2026.

The building will include remote working facilities, a café, craft shop, state-of-the-art catering kitchen, training facilities, art exhibition space and other amenities. The construction of this facility will bring to fruition, years of hard work and commitment to the delivery of this project by Truagh Development Association CLG.

Cllr Sean Conlon, Cathoirleach of Monaghan Municipal District, stated: "Truagh Development Association is one of the largest development and social enterprise companies in the Municipal District. Monaghan Municipal District are delighted to be investing in this project that will facilitate the expansion of the Association's social and community services and allow it to develop new enterprise and commercial opportunities identified in its strategic plan."
