A £485,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme commenced yesterday (April 28) on Hannahstown Hill in Belfast, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.
The resurfacing scheme extends from the junction of the Glen Road to the junction of Upper Springfield Road and is expected to be completed by Friday, May 30.
Discussing the project, Minister Kimmins said: "This substantial investment of £485,000 for West Belfast will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users who travel through this area and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To facilitate the scheme, weekday road closures will be implemented for the duration of the works, beginning yesterday, until Friday, May 30, between the hours of 9.30am and 4pm.
In addition, three consecutive weekend closures will be required to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works. These closures will be in place: From 7pm on Friday, May 9, until 6pm on Sunday, May 11; daily on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, from 8am until 6pm and; daily on Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, from 8am until 6pm.
During periods of closure a diversion will be in place via the Glen Road, Monagh bypass and Upper Springfield Road.
