County Antrim-based Farrans Construction has presented a cheque for £10,000 to Northern Ireland Children's Hospice following a successful fundraising day held last month.
The funds, raised at a charity golf day hosted by the Dunmurry-headquartered company, will go towards NI Hospice's work, which provides a range of in-patient and at home care support for adults, children and babies impacted by life limiting illnesses in the country. The organisation relies on donations and corporate fundraising to generate over 60% of the £20m running costs it needs to help over 4,000 people and families each year.
Speaking at the handover of the cheque at Somerton House in Belfast, Dominic Lavery, Managing Director of Farrans Construction, said: "We have heard that this donation will have a big impact and that £10,000 can pay for 360 physio pool sessions, a full year of bereavement support for more than ten families or five nights of a bed in the Children's Hospice with 24 hours of around the clock care. I'd like to thank our colleagues and supply chain once again for their donations towards this excellent cause and I look forward to continuing to work with NI Hospice through other initiatives in the future."
Jessica Steele, Corporate Relationship Manager of NI Hospice, added: "We are so grateful to Farrans for their incredibly generous donation of £10,000 to Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.
"Their support will make a real difference to the children and families in our care, helping us continue to provide specialist, compassionate services when they’re needed most. Thank you to everyone involved in making this gift possible."
