The Glenamuck District Distributor Road fully opened to traffic yesterday (June 19) after final checks - including commissioning of the public lighting and traffic signals - were completed, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown (dlr) County Council has announced.
The road forms part of the Glenamuck District Roads Scheme (GDRS), included in the County Development Plan 2016-2022 as a six year road objective.
BAM Civil Ltd was appointed as the contractor for the construction of the GDRS on March 19, 2024. The construction phase of the scheme commenced in April 2024 with a proposed programme of two years.
Yesterday marked a staged opening until the full scheme is complete. A road closure on Glenamuck Road also began, with a diversion in place for public transport.
A statement from dlr County Council said: "Thanks to everyone for your continued patience and support as we deliver this major infrastructure project."
