County Antrim-headquartered Farrans Construction has received ISO 14064-1 certification through the internationally recognised Achilles Carbon Reduce Programme.
Farrans was able to measure and verify all emissions under ISO 14064- 1 and the GHG Protocol for its Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions.
A statement from the company explained: "The Carbon Reduce annual audit cycle will continue to support our journey to reduce carbon and align with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C – the highest ambition of the Paris Agreement.
Farrans have become ISO 14064-1 accredited through Achilles and Toitū's independent verification audits, ensuring we met the requirements of the programme having measured our GHG emissions in accordance with the ISO standard.
"Through the Achilles Carbon Reduce programme we have a clearly defined pathway that enables our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions to be collected, independently measured, targets to be set and strategies implemented to enable business emissions to be systematically reduced using the application of science-based tools, actions, and evidence."
Farrans' Sustainability Advisor, Victoria Johnston, emphasised the company's commitment to "achieving meaningful climate action and emissions reduction" and highlighted how, through use of the programme, Farrans has been able to "credibly demonstrate how we are managing our carbon emissions, reinforcing our commitment to the reduction in our company’s impact on the environment."
Ms Johnston thanked all involved across the business for their collective effort in reducing Farrans' impact on the global climate.
