GEM Construction, in partnership with Fingal County Council, has completed and officially opened Church Fields Linear Park in Dublin 15.
The new park is part of the ongoing Church Fields Master Plan, which integrates public infrastructure, housing and community amenities in one of Ireland's largest affordable housing developments.
The park was formally opened on July 4 by the Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tom O'Leary, alongside Minister for Public Expenditure Jack Chambers T.D. and Fingal County Council Chief Executive AnnMarie Farrelly. The event was attended by local councillors, community leaders, and project stakeholders.
"It is a real pleasure to officially open the new linear park at Church Fields," said Mayor of Fingal Cllr Tom O'Leary. "This park is more than just a green space—it’s a symbol of the kind of community we're building here in Mulhuddart and across Fingal.
"As Mayor, I’m committed to ensuring that new developments are matched with the infrastructure and amenities that help families thrive. This park delivers on that promise, offering a safe, vibrant, and sustainable space for children to play, neighbours to meet, and residents to enjoy nature right on their doorstep."
Delivered with a total investment of €6.2 million, the project features: Hundreds of newly planted trees; 1,000 square metres of native hedging; 30,000 square metres of amenity grassland; Dedicated play areas for toddlers and teens, including an accessible sensory play zone; Modern public lighting, signage, street furniture, and safe pedestrian access points.
The new green space is a central element in the wider Church Fields development, which is currently delivering over 500 new homes, including social, cost rental, and affordable homes for sale. These homes are under construction by GEM Construction as part of a long-term partnership with Fingal County Council, supported by SHIP and AHF funding.
Church Fields is designed with sustainability and connectivity in mind. The area already features one of Ireland's first cycle-friendly roundabouts, and construction is progressing on a new cycle route linking local schools and enhancing safety for students walking or cycling.
Church Fields Linear Park is another step forward in delivering high-quality public infrastructure that supports growing communities while integrating essential green and recreational space into a major residential project.
