Following its overwhelming demand and success, Sligo County Council has announced a temporary pause in accepting new applications for Housing Adaptation Grants for Disabled People (HAGs), Mobility Aids Grants (MAGs), and Housing Aid for Older People Grants (HOPs) with immediate effect.

This pause in applications does not apply to those which meet Priority 1 criteria. The decision follows a detailed review, which assessed current resources, high volume of applications submitted in 2025 to date, the projected waiting times for grants to be processed, and ongoing budget commitments.

Sligo County Council has stated it "recognises that the scheme aims to support vulnerable members of the community to remain in their homes and within their communities for as long as possible.

"These are necessary measures to ensure existing commitments are met and to prioritise those applicants with the most urgent medical and care needs."

The situation will be reviewed again in early 2026 and any decision to recommence the scheme will be subject to adequate funding being available.
