Cork-based contractor MMD Construction has officially joined Lean Construction Ireland (LCi) as a Gold Member, marking a significant step in the company's ongoing efforts to implement Lean principles across its operations.
While Lean practices are commonly associated with improving on-site efficiency, MMD is taking a broader approach by applying Lean thinking across departments including Quality, Planning, Procurement, and HR.
MMD Construction said: "As a company, we are continually evolving. Embracing Lean allows us to sharpen our focus on value creation, waste reduction, collaboration, and innovation—ensuring we deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients while supporting the professional growth of our people."
As part of the new partnership, MMD recently welcomed Derek Sinnott, Chair of LCi, to its offices. The visit opened up direct dialogue between LCi leadership and MMD's internal teams, establishing a foundation for continued engagement and shared learning.
LCi acknowledged MMD's proactive approach to Lean implementation, noting its leadership and openness to cross-functional collaboration within the construction sector.
A statement from LCi said: "MMD recognises and embraces the value Lean can bring, not only on-site, but right across the organisation.
"Their leadership, openness, and enthusiasm for collaboration are exactly what the LCi community is all about."
