Donegal County Council's Regeneration & Development Team, in partnership with Paul Doherty Architects and Cala Architects, has begun work on a Heritage-Led Regeneration Strategy & Action Plan for Raphoe Town Centre.
This plan will guide future construction, conservation and renewal projects in line with national policy Town Centre First – A Policy Approach for Irish Towns. It will focus on strengthening the built environment in the town centre, including improvements to public realm, streetscapes, and historic buildings. The aim is to support the long-term resilience and functionality of Raphoe's urban core, with heritage and conservation as key considerations.
An initial stage of public consultation will help shape the draft strategy. A streetside consultation event will be held at the Diamond in Raphoe on Thursday, July 24, from 2pm to 7pm. Contractors, businesses and residents are encouraged to attend and provide input on the proposed regeneration works and priorities.
Feedback can also be submitted by emailing comments to [email protected] or writing to Regeneration & Development Team, Donegal County Council, Old Army Barracks, Lifford, Co. Donegal, F93 PN3H.
The consultation period will close on Friday, August 8 at 4pm.
This initiative is funded through the Historic Towns Initiative by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and the Heritage Council, supporting the regeneration of historic town centres across Ireland.
