A new affordable housing scheme has been launched by Cork City Council, in partnership with Galtymore Homes.
The scheme relates to the new development at at Carraig Dún, Killeens, located less than 6kms from Cork City Centre, which consists of nine A2 energy rated, architect designed, semi-detached homes.
The homes are available for sale from circa 20% below open market values to those who qualify for the affordable housing scheme. For eligible applicants, three-bedroom, semi-detached homes, will be available from €320,000.
Situated just minutes from popular retail hubs such as Blarney, Blackpool and Ballyvolane, Carraig Dún also boasts nearby access to the popular walking trail at Clogheenmilcon Fen. For commuters, the location offers connections to key routes, including the North Ring Road, N20 Dual Carriageway, and is 2kms from the proposed new North Ring Motorway route.
The Carraig Dún, Killeens, affordable housing scheme homes are generally available for first-time buyers who do not have an interest in any other property, although exceptions may apply for 'fresh start' applicants.
Commenting on the launch of this new affordable housing scheme, Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor Fergal Dennehy, said: "Cork City Council has exceeded its housing targets for the 2022–2024 period, and it is developments like this that are helping to keep us firmly on that upward trajectory.
"I want to sincerely thank Galtymore Homes and our Housing Directorate for their continued dedication and hard work in bringing these homes to fruition. We very much rely on our collaboration with all stakeholders to provide a range of housing options and this scheme is a testament to that."
The Carraig Dún development is the tenth affordable housing scheme of its kind offered for sale by Cork City Council, bringing the total number of homes offered under the scheme to 403 properties to date.
Previous schemes across Cork City have included developments in Boherboy Road, Tower, Montenotte, Bishopstown, Ballincollig, Whites Cross, Grange, Lehenaghamore and, most recently, Glenbride, Old Mallow Road.
